Artist: Jack Henry, Contextual Research

20-26th March

Information has been written down in the sketchbook:

Jack Henry gathers common place found objects and transforms them into multi-media sculptural work and calls them “Monuments to post-industrialise America” They resemble core samples from urban landfills. Jack creates casts and fills them with found objects, resin, cement and urban debris and leaves them to set. “Instead of merely pushing these man-made items into the peripheral of our everyday routine, I re-create the curiosities that happen when they depart from contact with people to move, decay and harbour with other items to create monuments to cultural disaffection”

Jack Henry’s work relates to my project well due to the fact he is too inspired by Modernity, litter and landfills, yet illustrates this through beautiful creations.

I feel the subject of using of found objects and litter incorporated into his work entice me the most and really inspires me to want to do the same.
